The Athenian Metro except it's use as a media of transportation functions as an underground museum concerning the antiquities that unearthed during it's construction. During the tour you grab the metro with the help of our knowledgeable local guides. With this way you will have the opportunity to discover the antiquities hidden in the Metro Stations and walk through the neighborhoods around them discovering the vibes of the modern life of Athens in order to be provided an accurate and complete image of Athens. Optionaly an old hidden bar at the end of the route will give you the opportunity to relax, sum up and gain even more insights about Athens.
Meet your guide in Monastiraki square where you will hear a well documented abstract about the history of the area. Then you will enter the metro station in order to see one of the hidden rivers of Athens. Next stop will be Aigaleo Metro station were you will be able to see the underground exhibition concerning Ancient Athens everyday life and follow the traces of a major sacred road which was been connecting Ancient Athens with the important ritual site of Eleusis well known because of the so called Eleusinian mysteries. After a small walk through Aigaleo square you will go back underground again in order to reach the Kerameikos Metro Station. There you will hear the industrial history of the area known as Gazi which nowadays is famous for its clubbing culture and have a coffee in a traditional Greek coffeeshop . After your visit in the museum concerning a former gas industry where you will be able to learn about gas and its production during the 19th century you will get back to the Metro in order to reach Syntagma Metro Station and visit the archaeological exhibition, next stop will be Acropolis metro station where you will be informed about the excavations that they had conducted during its construction see the underground exhibition. You will visit also the extraordinary excavation under the Acropolis Museum. Last Metro stop will be the Panepistimio Metro Station where you will see the so called Athenian Trilogy and learn its history. The tour optionally ends in a hidden old bar where you will be able to chill out and have further information concerning the rest of your stay in Athens.
